The Opportunity
The job of Biological Materials Production Technician 1 is to produce raw materials used in TechLab kits. Biological Materials Production Technician 1 adheres to standard operating procedures, master batch records, and other regulatory documents. Biological Materials Production Technician 1 will report to either the Biological Materials Production Manager, Biological Materials Production Team Leader – Conjugation and Inventory Control, Biological Materials Production Team Leader – Microbial Culturing and Protein Purification, or the Technology Transfer Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Perform basic microbiology procedures, cell culture, and gram staining
Growth and maintenance of parasite organism culture
Screen biological materials for reactivity
Purify antibodies using various chromatography techniques
Conduct regular calibrations and validations on equipment
Receive and maintain the chemical inventory
Make buffers, culture media and other reagents
Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware
Perform rehydration and dispensing of raw materials
Conduct investigations for non-conformances and defects
Perform peer review on completed batch records and other documents
Work on tasks set by Biological Materials Production Team Leader and Biological Materials Production Manager

Qualifications and Experience
B.A. or B.S. in life sciences, or equivalent experience. Or associate's degree with chromatography and/or protein purification experience or coursework.
Experience and/or interest in biochemistry is welcomed, but not required.
Location and Work Policy
TechLab maintains a climate controlled environment for the job of Biological Materials Production Technician 1. The Biological Materials Production Technician 1 can expect to work with human pathogens. An employee in this position must be able to lift upwards of 50 lbs. A typical week is Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30 or 8:30 to 5:00. Overtime is occasionally necessary with or without advance notice.
